Sorry that I’ve been lame!

Hey everyone, sorry I’ve been lame and not posting.  Nothing is new with my weight loss, I’ve maintained but haven’t lost anything else.  I’ve been eating fairly clean but my workouts have been lacking because I’m so busy.  New resolution is to get out of bed earlier and do a workout in the morning!  That way, if I’m busy at night I don’t have to worry about not getting my workout in.

I just bought “This Is Why You’re Fat” by Jackie Warner, and it speaks to a whole bunch of reasons people are overweight today – mainly due to hormones.  I’m wondering if tweaking my non-Cinch foods and adding in a 20 minute interval workout (I’m in love with the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred) in the morning will give me the boost I’m looking for.

I’ll stay in touch and let you know what happens.  I did want to mention that Shaklee decided to extend its new member program until 3/31.  Order $70 member price in products, add a $19.99 membership, and you’ll get $100 of Shaklee Cinch products to jump start your weight loss.  This really is the cleanest, healthiest, QUICKEST food you can ever eat.  I highly recommend it! for shopping

Tools & Tips from Dr. Oz

I was tooling around on a break today and noticed a few cool things on Dr. Oz’s website.  Check these out – Mean Green approved!!

Great link on how to keep produce fresh when you go spend a bunch of money on it (or, when you’re like me, stock up because of a sale)

Puzzled at the grocery store and on a budget?  Your Cinch diet is about $9/day including your multivitamin, a snack, 2 meals and an Energy tea… but what about that 3rd meal?  Great video on food shopping using guidelines of $1/serving.  Use coupons and shop around the perimeter of the store.

$1/serving Recipes to show off your shopping prowess!  Can be made in less than 30 minutes, less than 500 calories per serving, no ingredient over $1/serving  and Recipes underneath both videos, these are done by Paula Deen’s sons, so you know they’re good.

This post is dedicated to my Crazy Coupon Lady friend!  Check out her site here, and enjoy!

“If every day were like today…”

I love when I finish my food diary for the day on MFP and it says “If every day were like today, you’d weigh ___ lbs in 5 weeks!”

Yes, MFP, it’s true.  If I did 45 minutes of kickboxing class and 35 minutes of soccer every day, I would totally lose 20 lbs!

Just makes me laugh.

So far, so good.  I look thin today.  I need to drink more water.  Weight still stable but tomorrow is a weigh in day.

Week 2 recap, on to Week 3!

Well, last week went good in some regards, and not too great in other regards.

First, let’s start off with a recap.  In case you’re wondering what I ate and how I moved, you can check on the Week 2 food & exercise diary posted here.  I was completely honest with what I did, logging everything in MFP which I’ve found is the most accurate site out there with the largest database I’ve seen.  Great message boards, too, for the record!  Remember, I started with a goal of 1200 calories a day, and on workout days, it can vary.  I am trying not to eat all of my exercise calories, however.

Totals for the week:
Calories logged (included 800 for Friday night’s dinner) 8,470 calories
Fat logged (included 40 for Friday night’s dinner) 184g
Protein logged (included 35 for Friday night’s dinner)  485g
Exercise calorie burn log  1552 calories

8470 calories taken in
-1552 burned by exercise
-10, 150 burned just by daily activity (per MFP)
-3232 calorie deficit for the week which equals almost a pound of weight loss mathematically

Now, not to get into TMI or anything but because it was a certain very special time of the month for me, I am not counting my weigh ins until Weds.  Based on Friday night’s dinner out with beers and Sunday’s 90th birthday celebration, I’m not really expecting any loss at all, but Cinch food is funny like that so I’ll let you know on Weds once I weigh in for real.

As long as I’ve maintained my 6lb weight loss from last week, I’m happy.  We’ll see what happens!

I decided to log Week 3 also and see how it goes.  This week I only have one “celebration” and that is the sales banquet.  I logged everything including exercise for today and I have an extra 1100 calories.  I’ll be keeping you posted!!

A letter from Dr Jamie Mc Manus

Take a look at this letter I got yesterday.  I am excited for Brad Lamm to be on the Dr. Oz show!
Hello Shaklee Family,
I am so very excited about 2011 and know this will be the best year in Shaklee ever! Why am I so confident? Because we have exactly the right products that your friends and family are looking for as we start a new year and a new decade! If you’re like most Americans, the goal at the top of your new year’s resolution list is to lose weight and get in better shape. And what better way to do that than with the Shaklee Cinch® Inch Loss Plan – a comprehensive, clinically tested† weight management program. Cinch is specifically formulated to help bring an end to the dieting cycle. In our pilot clinical study, participants on average lost 15.4 pounds and experienced a 100% retention of lean muscle mass, which means the weight they lost was from body fat – not muscle. Why is that important? Because when you lose muscle, you also slow down metabolism, or your ability to burn calories. Cinch study participants retained their muscle mass and lost that unwanted body fat!
Today, over 65% of American adults are overweight – an alarming statistic! Overweight is established using an individual’s height and weight to measure body mass index, or BMI. An adult with a BMI of 25 or higher is considered overweight.
People need to hear about Cinch and Shaklee! To help you reach out to all those who need to hear about Cinch, Shaklee is teaming up with Brad Lamm, a board-registered interventionist who has worked on The Oprah Winfrey Show in addition to his spot as a regular contributor on The Dr. Oz Show. Brad has a brand-new book, Just 10 Lbs, in which he provides insight into the various emotional triggers that may result in weight gain and/or get in the way of weight loss. His focus is on “just getting started,” beginning with “just 10 pounds!” Brad loves Cinch and uses Cinch products every day; he mentions this in the book. So don’t get overwhelmed by the number of pounds you may need to lose. Just focus on those first 10. And when you’ve accomplished that, you can stand up to the next 10.
So where are you with your weight? Is your BMI less than 25? If not, it is time to get serious and get “Cinched”! If you’re already at a healthy weight, reach out to those around you who aren’t. Click here to read more about Brad’s book – an invaluable tool to help you on your Cinch path.
We also have a great Cinch Sampler Pack available now to make it even easier to introduce new people to Cinch. This limited-time offer* contains products you will love, plus a selection of great Cinch tools at no additional charge. The Cinch Sampler Pack (#59718) includes:

SCAM Alert! Why you should only trust QUALITY

This is a scam.  If you see this website on people’s facebooks, please let them know it is a scam.

TRUTH about the SCAM:

In case anyone is wondering, this kind of stuff gives what I do a bad rep.  That is why I chose to partner with a direct sales company who actually does their homework on every single product, prior to putting it on the market.  We chose Shaklee because of the stringent quality controls that go into every single product:  From the vitamins right down to the diaper rash cream.  Every single raw ingredient is tested for purity and effectiveness, BEFORE it goes off to production.  Once produced, they test it AGAIN for purity and effectiveness.  Finally, before even putting these products on the market, our team of scientists commissions the testing of these formulas in independent labs.  That’s right, clinical studies on every.single.product.  Shaklee has to pay for the clinical studies, but has ZERO control over the outcome.  A lot of these studies are peer-reviewed, which means they are published in medical journals.

The State University of New York at Buffalo is currently testing our cellular anti-aging tonic called Vivix.  In 2009, they did a study which is currently being reviewed for publication.  As soon as it’s published I’ll be sure to link it. Here’s an explanation of the findings by Dr. Stephen Chaney, MD.

In this study, a group of volunteers consumed a 910 calorie breakfast from Burger King. One half of the group took Vivix immediately after breakfast and the other half took a placebo.  For the group consuming Vivix a key genetic regulator of longevity called Nrf2 (pronounced Nerf 2) increased dramatically within the first 3 hours after the meal. For the placebo group Nrf2 levels actually declined.

What does this mean?  It means that the damage a high fat (trans fats, saturated fats) meal does to your system is evident in your blood.  A meal like this one causes your arteries to contract almost immediately (scary, right?), and in some extreme cases where previous arterial damage is present, this meal could send you right to a heart attack.  NRF2 triggers our body’s immune balance and anti stress pathways, keeping us from experiencing internal trauma like heart disease etc.  Vivix has been proven, in this study and many others, to activate NRF2, therefore keeping us healthier!  Of course this does not mean that you can just pound BK all day and be safe by taking your Vivix, but it’s a direct testament of a wildly popular product of Shaklee’s that could be called a scam by others.  It’s not a scam, and UB proved it!

That’s it for now, I’ll be back with more studies and other things tomorrow.  Thank you to my dear friend who pointed out the acai scam in the first place.  She’s a Shaklee member!  🙂
